Handbook on Combating Gender Stereotypes by Supreme Court of India

The Supreme Court of India has launched a handbook to help judges and lawyers identify and avoid the use of gender stereotypes in court orders and legal documents. The handbook, which is available online, contains a glossary of gender-unjust terms and suggests alternative words or phrases that can be used instead. The handbook is a welcome step towards ensuring that the Indian judiciary is free from gender bias. Gender stereotypes can have a significant impact on the outcome of legal cases, and this handbook will help to ensure that judges and lawyers are aware of the ways in which they can perpetuate these stereotypes. I urge everyone to read the handbook and share it with others. We need to work together to create a more gender-just legal system in India. The handbook is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to help create a more just and equitable society.
